Toured up to 11,000’ in Avalanche Canyon to look for signs of wind slabs and monitor the lower elevation snowpack given the forecasted warm temperatures. The recent snow appears to be bonding well to old surfaces in most locations. About 4-6” of snow had fallen in the upper elevations of this area since Friday. Solar aspects developed a surface crust yesterday. We found little in the way of reactive wind slabs. We observed one shallow (2-4”) slab release along an actively loading ridgeline. Other than that, there is not much to report with regards to instability in the newest snow.
Conditions changed drastically below 8,500’. Warm temperatures had wetted the most recent snow making for challenging skiing. Recent wet avalanche activity was observed on both the north and south facing sides of the canyon.

Off and on light snow (S-1) with minimal accumulations throughout the day. Some graupel. Moderate ridgetop winds out of the southwest. Light rain in the valley on the dive out. We experienced a loud thunderclap around 2pm. Wild!
