Cool temperatures and overcast skies. Gusty winds - 20's to 30's mph from the W and SW that slowly backed down in the early afternoon. A few glimpses of sun and some lifting clouds in the early afternoon, but then socked back in again.
Snowpack
Gusty winds along the ridgeline had transported the snow into drifts, the deepest I could find was 45cm thick and was reactive to a ski cut. However, the typical start zone on the south face wasn't loaded as deeply. The height of new snow was anywhere from 12cm to almost 30cm. The snow was well-behaved in the lower elevations, and while you could punch through while skinning in the lower elevations it wasn't releasing on steep slopes via ski cuts. The transition from warm to cool while it was snowing most likely assisted in this bonding.
Overheard reports of some sensitive wind slabs near Grand Targhee (where they received 19'' of snow by 9AM at Chief Joseph!). Additionally, reports of sensitive wind slabs in the typical locations of Twin Slides on Glory were reported - that were 8-10'' deep. Moving forward I would expect tonight's cool weather to lock in the interface further. However, when the April sun shows up it's going to be a wet loose mess anywhere that received this band of fresh snow. Can't rule out steep polar aspects possibly having some dry loose issues where the maximum snow amounts were reported.
