Storm Skiing

Avalanche

SS-ASC-R1-D0.5-I. The ski cuts produced similar results in both the hangover couloir and an area lower down the ridge. We did not ski the hangover. Slab depths were 25cms to 40cms. On the lower pocket, the 3rd skier pulled out a remaining pocket on a microfeature that had a crown 35 feet wide. This soft slab moved the skier downhill about 15 feet, then the skier moved skiers right but had lost a ski. The skier was moved but unhurt and the ski was quickly recovered.
