Quick report

Dug a quick ECT at 10,750ft on a south aspect on teewinot after discovering weak buried snow while bootpacking in the SW couloir. Aside from a few non reactive surface wind slabs we found a deeper layer of concern down 60cm which prompted us to avoid this slope.

Snowpack

Aside from two density breaks down about 10 and 20 cms that did not propagate we got propagation (ECTP28) down 60cm below a really thin crust atop at least a foot of facets. This terrain was moderately rocky, but it definitely made curious about the presence of a persistent slab on solar aspects above the forecast zone. Two hand shears on similar aspect/elevation broke on thin graupel layer down 20cms. Pit: HS 200. We only dug down 100 to our layer of concern so can only speak to the upper portion of the snowpack.
