Quick report
Practiced digging full profile today on south facing slope near Crag of Doom at 6150' on a 27 degree slope. The height of the snow at this location varied from 145cm to 165cm, air temperature was 1C. There was light snow and light wind out of the SE. The sky was overcast, my boot penetration was 37cm. The snowpack yielded a 1.5C degree reading at 10 cm, 20cm, and 30cm. The first extended column test I did resulted in fracturing but no propagation (ECTN19) on a layer of facets 30cm down, 1 finger hardness. The second extended column test resulted in a similar fracture/no propagation on the same layer (ECTN18). There was no reaction from the deep/persistent slab problem in my location. The ski down was fraught with a breakable crust and heavy snow underneath.
Avalanche
Observed the crown of an avalanche that slid most likely during or immediately after the last storm cycle, as seen in a previous published observation.
