Toured from Habegger up towards Coyote Ridge. Heard a bit of isolated whumpfing around 10,000ft. Dug a pit at 9500'. 72cm deep. Top 60cm was soft snow, increasing density, but all penetrable with fist. Bottom 10-12cm was sugary facets. The facets had enough moisture to pack them together but did not consolidate easily. With an extended column test, the basal facets collapsed at ECT25. I expect the collapse could have spread across the entire column, and maybe happened earlier, if the snow in hadn't been anchored by small scrubs. At ~10,500 ft, the snowpack became thin, with loads of sharks completely obscured just beneath the surface of the snow, so we turned back and climbed the hill at 10,426. Good skiing from there down, with mostly soft, friendly snow, and a couple wind affected areas where the trees opened up more.
