I will not be heading back up to TG until we get more snow. We need at least a foot or more to be able to move on foot. Sleds are going to have to wait a bit longer.
Snowpack
What snow there is is incredibly shallow, only about 10-12" on N-facing upper-elevation terrain. It quickly dwindles to single-digit amounts as you descend. The snow is all faceted and you can easily sink to the ground.
Luckily, this weak snow only exists in specific places—sheltered, shaded, north-facing terrain above 8500'. We'll keep this in mind as it slowly gets covered by more snow.
