Quick report
Toured into the gulf of slides sandbox and dug a pit to get an intuition for the snow profile. New snow was being transported from the ridge line and wind loading at least the snow fields and main gulley. Rough snow profile presented in attached image; total depth was measured to be ~160 cm. I didn’t pick up on the >1m deep facets during this profiling as I stopped at just about 1m deep. Performed compression test with CTM, fracture 30cm down was clean but didn’t have much energy. Continued and had failure at CTH on a slightly greater than 1m deep layer of facets, seemingly corresponding to the deep persistent problem found on the summit cone. Next performed ECT with ECTN18 30cm down. Next went to main gulley and performed some hand shears down low on the sides where the line was not tracked up. Found that new transported snow actively forming 1-2” wind slabs
