Quick report
Our tour took us to left gully via the tuckermans ravine trail. Overall the weather was great, no rain encountered and breaks of sun throughout the day. 09:00 - Stepped off from the parking lot, wind was mild temp 35F At about 2490’ elevation snow was present on the trail. Trail full snow between 2490’and 2873’ where skinning would be possible. 10:45 - Reached the bottom of the bowl. While at at the bowl witness a large ice chuck break loose and roll into lunch rocks reducing to about the size of a soccer ball (estimated) just missing individuals sitting in the area. Crevasse at lip were very visible from the bottom. Precedent to accend left gully via the boot pack on the lookers left side of the gully. Snow was very soft and boot pack was ok but slick at times, use of ice ax was appreciated and crampons would have been beneficial. While accending noticed wet sluff during most decents though was manage by all. Did not make it all the way to the top but part of group accended beyond where most were changing over. Was not the best choice as changing over higher up lead to a near miss were one member slide about 100ft eventually stopping with their board luckily getting stuck in brush lower down and not continuing all the way to the bottom. No injuries occured. The decent was very soft and spring like, trail has larges bumps all the way down. The party also experienced relatively significant rivers of wet stuff at times during their decent. After one run and near miss decided to descend to the bottom, took the sherb to the cross over, shaded sections are still full but sections are down to one ski path or just dirt. Overall great day but conditions are deminising quickly. Saw ice chunk break loose from lip area. Also saw the crevasse at the lip from a distance.
