Collapsing
isolated

Mid-Jan drought layer. Natural D1-1.5's. One D2. Two collapses around 8,500'. Thin ice crust on surfaces below 9K from yesterday. Buried facets were present from the mid- Jan drought. Things were bonded decently well in our pit, but buried facets were present. As we toured north, we observed several natural avalanches at the base of cliffs. Some of these slides triggered pockets on rollovers sympathetically. Most slides were in the D1-1.5 range, with one D2 in North Boundary Bowl

Thin ice crust from yesterday and "heavier slabbed up new snow" would prevent much transport

Snowpack

Faceting from mid Jan was present 42cms down in the pit we dug. The layer between 213 and 208 had some rounding that I'm guessing was due to the >32 degree temps from 2/5-2/7. ECTN11 result was Q3, but given the amount of faceting and natural activity, I'd be very suspicious of E-N aspects. We had two collapses in flat terrain where protected buried SH could have been the culprit. Given the amount of faceting, the slopes that slid could certainly repeat.
