Moderate W, NW winds were actively transporting snow

6-8 mm surface hoar was still holding on in areas despite moderate winds and snow actively transposting. Surface snow was soft but transformed throughout the day as the wind packed the snow.  Cross- loaded terrain features and cornices building on ridges were observed.  We did not find the end of year crust in our snowpit at 3900 ft. The top 30 cm of the snowpack consisted mostly of facets mixed with partly decomposed precipitation particles.
