Quick report
Melt freeze crust set up as a hard layer this morning beginning our approach at 0845. Gradually softening to corn snow on solar aspects between 1100-1400. Light wind and warming temperatures indicate this cycle may continue in coming days. From approximately 10,000' at Blue Lake to 11,600 coverage was consistent although thin at upper altitude. Crampons and ice axe are needed to travel on steeper slopes and waiting for snow to soften on more exposed terrain is recommended. Snow supportive of boot travel and by early afternoon 3" of sinking was experienced. Snowpack today was stable with spring like conditions.
