Snowpack
Snow depths were decent in this zone with 2-4' of snow at 7800'+ on North and Easterly aspects, generally increasing with elevation, but variable.
Surface hoar was found near a north facing ridgeline at 8400-8600' (pictured) and was small with little evidence of it a short way down off the ridgeline in the trees.
Polar, North facing protected snow is still soft and weak with small loose sluffs in steep terrain as well as making for a slippery day uphill.
Solar, South facing terrain was softening up to 9200' by 200pm although the winds were attempting to cool it back down, especially at higher elevations.
Lower elevation snow was generally wet by mid day, although protected snow down to about 7400' was still dry. Was able to stay on skis on the egress until about 6200', although price of admission was high and muddy. Seemed like the SW winds kept the snow cool enough to avoid signs of wet loose activity in this zone today.
