Finally! Gimme, gimme shelter. It’s just a (north facing) shot away. -We stuck to terrain under 30 degrees and found over 30cm of low-medium density snow on northerly aspects and had a great day. -Noted several natural and human triggered avalanches on our tour and egress (see avalanche tab). -Several near misses with tree bombs. Just close enough to keep us on our toes. Cracking in new storm snow on isolated steep terrain features. Noted several SS avalanches that were triggered by tree bombs and were able to wrap around small terrain features. Founds several snowmobile triggered SS avalanches along road cuts that entrained recently formed wind slabs on westerly aspects.

Temps dropped and winds increased as the day progressed. Winds out of the SW around 20 mph were transporting snow on the ground and knocking tree bombs out all day.
Snowpack
-Found 30+cm of new low-medium density snow on top of a supportable crust up to 6800’. -4F slab was beginning to form on old surface layers and would crack on isolated terrain features near our up track. Crack would only involve new storm snow. -HS at 6800’ was 165cm.

Small soft slab avalanches were triggered by snowmobile along road cut. In addition, several soft slab avalanches were triggered by tree bombs knocked loose during stronger wind gusts early this AM.
