West Angle

Went up to the weather station at 9,200'. Cleared a total of 13" of snow containing 1.65" of water off the interval board.  11 inches of snow containing 1.25" of water had fallen at the station since the evening of 2/2.

The weight of the most recent snow was obviously stressing a weak snowpack. Loud collapses and shooting cracks were observed frequently on the tour up. These were mostly observed in locations where the snowpack was relatively thin (most places on Angle).

The new snow had more of a slab characteristic on south facing slopes and was mostly loose/unconsolidated on norths. Very little wind affect in this area.

Lots of collapsing on the tour up. Several collapses were quite loud and one knocked snow off the trees. Shooting cracks were also observed.
