Quick report

Red Flags
Wind Loading

Original intent was to gain the Maybird/Hogum ridge and descend Hogum 200 and head up higher into the upper Hogum Cirque. Southeast winds led us to bail and we found better and safer riding in the trees.

Most interesting snow remains at and below the elevations (8500'?) that have last Thursday's rain crust.

No facets found beneath the crust. Weakest snow beneath the new storm (slab - 4F/1F) is as depicted below. This layer we'll need to keep an eye on with further storms.

Instability Comment

SE winds with unusual loading patterns; chose to avoid the wind drifted areas and stay in protected terrain.

Wind getting into the mid-elevations and mid-slope but variable.

Excellent in the sheltered trees.
