Quick report
Today I was met with limited instability and variable surface conditions. Of note, due to cold temperatures and chilly winds, areas with MF crusts at the surface did not thaw, even in direct sunlight. Some were breakable, some supportable. I found faceting occuring above and below surface crusts, and above and below old WS on all aspects above 9000'. Areas with weak snow over slick or hard surfaces were difficult to move through, and I even experienced small, isolated loose snow instabilities.

Clear skies were met with cold temperatures (freezing around 9000') and light to moderately gusting winds. Winds were variable from E - N - NW.
Snowpack
I dug in the most protected, highest elevation area I could find today, N, BTL, 9500'. I wanted to take stock of how the snowpack may be changing. I found faceting and rounding occuring throughout the upper 100 cm of the snowpack. Even this incredibly protected pocket held a few MF crusts (that are decomposing) from recent warm ups.
