Quick report
Went out to pano dome to dig a pit and have a little tour on day 2 of the AAIRE 1 course with Mike from Sierra Mountain Center. We parked near Old Mammoth Road and Le Verne and started skinning. It was blowing hard and had been all night. Obvious and deep scouring was found even in tree protected regions. Hand shear tests showed no signs of instability. Dug a pit @ 23° angle, elev 8685, 42° NE. A compression test yielded a sudden compression at a weak layer at 95cm. Facet crystals present below the storm slab.
