Quick report
Today we had a sunny day at Bacon Rind. The clouds increased while we were out. Moderate winds from the South were blowing.
We dug two pits and found in both a burried surface hoar layer near the top of the snowpack. Our ECT tests showed a result on that surface hoar layer in both pits without propagation (ECTN1 and ECTN2). In our south facing pit, we got a second result lower in the snowpack where facets were sitting on a crust (ECTN28@48).
A thin crust has formed on south facing and sun exposed aspects.
We didn't observe any cracking or collapsing or other signs of instability.
