Snowpack

Instability Comment

We observed a surprising amount of wind-drifted snow, especially on ridgelines. Ridges that were fully covered in snow yesterday were barren and rocky today. Snow drifts formed sensitive slabs, especially on ridgelines. We found 30-40 feet cracks, lots of cornices, and sastrugi in exposed areas. These wind drifts formed on top of weaker snow.
