A quick note regarding the reactivity of the Feb 18th layer on the middle elevations, notably on the solar aspects. Today I experienced a large collapse at 8,400’ SSE as I skied over a thin bushy/rocky zone, in the Shadow Gully. Additionally, I checked out the same layer on the Surprise faces area - near the slide last week and quite close to where I skied earlier that morning, albeit a slightly lesser angle. At SE 7,600’ the layer there was still evident and my 30x30cm hasty pole pit columns again collapsed upon isolation. While I’m traveling around this terrain I’m definitely holding my cards tighter than I normally would given this facet + crust sandwich problem.
