Quick report
Skied a 25-30 degree NE facing slope in the late afternoon, topped out at ~5000' of elevation. Clear sunny day with Temps in upper 30's, gusts of a breezy SW wind began around 4 pm. Observed a warming snowpack with minor roller balls on the ascent, snow was heavy and sticking to skins. While roller balls/rapid warming did create concern, pit results as well as moderate slope of the descent made for a safe and fun ski. Pit: Elevation- ~5000' Aspect-NE Incline-19 deg. Depth-99 cm ECTX CTN *Although pit was dug to ground, had difficulty isolating both tests past 55 cm due to hardness of snowpack. We looked closely at the cohesion of the new snow from earlier this week and the dense layer of snow from last weekend. The crystals showed signs of rounding between layers and the shovel shear test scored a STH.
