Quick report
Route: Eddies to 2300', down the WNW road facing aspect. Signs of Instability: No cracking, collapsing, or recent avalanche activity. Previously reported glide cracks are pictured below. Weather: Few high clouds, calm, inversion with 10f at the parking lot increasing just slightly by 2300'. Snow Surface: 3" of soft snow over a stout crust at the parking lot (400' in elevation). This increases to 30-40cm of soft snow over a stout base by 1200' - more soft surface snow at this elevation than observed yesterday on Cornbiscuit. Surface hoar present in open areas to 1800'. Areas of wind affect can be found low on Eddies; thin wind skin/slabs up to 6" thick were present occasionally on west aspects above the alders. The usual uptrack above 2000' had supportable sastrugi in places, but soft snow (avoiding areas of wind slab) could be found on the north and west aspects on either side of it! Snowpack: No snowpit today. Probing from 1700' - 1900' found a fairly consistent snowpack depth of 250cm, with the Holiday Crust down around 130-150cm. Probing from 1900' - 2100' showed more variation in depth due to previous wind transport, with areas of 100cm - 320cm+. The Holiday Crust could be felt roughly halfway down at any given location.
