We skied from the saddle through the upper reaches of the couloir before entering the chock point. Traversing skiers right, I came across a pocket of dense snow in a slope convexity. This led me to ski cut the top of the slope releasing a dense wind slab. The avalanche released on a hard bed surface that after further inspection was clearly a crust. The avalanche gained significant momentum, traveling 200-300ft vertical feet.
