Manitoba

We skied one quick lap this afternoon, getting back to the truck right as a squall rolled through that brought snow down to the road but didn't last enough for any accumulation. We noticed a few recent natural avalanches including a large slab avalanche on Spirit Walker, and multple dirty wet loose avalanches on the south-facing terrain on Wilson North.

We dug one hasty pit at about 2800' on the way up Manitoba. This was a southwest aspect, and only the upper 4-6" of snow have been going through the melt/freeze cycle at this elevation. All of the snow below that was still a dry wintery snowpack that was just beginning to turn moist. No unstable results in that pit, but the recent activity in the area makes me think the front side of Manitoba is an outlier.
