Quick report

Very wind affected terrain on all aspects. Dug two snowpits on the southwest aspect of tincan, one at treeline and one above. At treeline facets were buried 100cm deep. Above treeline they were 60cm deep. Facets at both elevations were 1 finger hardness. The entire snowpack above was pencil hardness, with the exception of mixed surface conditions from old windslabs. Wind slabs varied from 1 -12” thick. These were unreactive in tests. Negative results in compression tests at both pits. Negative results in ECT tests at both pits. Overall strong structure, strength, and low energy. The deep facets are 1-2mm and appear to be rounding. Ski quality was quite variable. Patches of soft snow, ice, and old avalanche debris. Lots of old slides were observed, but becoming covered up by wind drifted snow.
