Toured up to ski some trees on the south aspect. Lots of collapsing in open areas. Lots of vegetation w/o much snow, so likely a lot of faceting from warm surface. Observed/tested CT-sized column failing repeated on isolation and chained-depth hoar at the ground. Decent crust about halfway through the snowpack with facets on both sides. Unsure if the unstable condition would extend to higher elevations with more snow on the same aspect, but given the conditions observed would definitely wanted to test it vs. the safe low-angle trees where I skied. A few decent turns were had.
