Ski toured up the western slopes facing the highway near Observation Sub Peak today. Sunny skies and cool temps (-17 to -9 celcius) all day. On the way down, near ridgetop, a size 2 slab avalanche was remotely triggered while cutting back on a low angle slope to the shoulder. Moderate winds all day were transporting the recent storm snow and a significant amount of cross-loading was observed. Signs of instability included shooting cracks (some several meters above) on pockets of touchy wind slab while skinning up the shoulder to ridgetop. The slab that ran was approx. 45cm at its deepest, 35-40m wide, 40m long. It ran for approx. 300m.
