Snowpack
Several inches of wet snow fell quickly Saturday mid-day. On slopes over 40 degrees, we pushed tiny dry loose avalanches 2 to 4 inches deep, running at the newest interface. Near treeline, I found one or two (depending upon aspect) thin crusts in the dry snow above the thick, frozen late April polycrystal layer. The dry snow above the late April crust is about 10-14" deep near treeline, with only 3-5" above the thick crust at lower elevations.
