Quick report
We travelled on easterly-facing (NE-E-SE) slopes up to 35 degrees between 9,400 and 11,100 with no signs of instability. Storm snow settled noticeably since yesterday, with ski penetration about 10 to 20 cm less. Saw a pair of large avalanches across the gorge off Baldy's west side, both included southwest to west-facing cross-loaded terrain.

Clouds increased throughout the morning with light snow starting early afternoon. Cold. Northwest winds picked up mid-day.

CBAC Note: Changed failure date from 1/24 to 1/25. Likely failed during increased winds that began around 3 a.m. on 1/25. Slides were absent during daylight hours of 1/24. Changed from storm slab to persistent slab after site visit suggested step down involving 3 to 4 foot hard slab. Slide likely started as a windblown slab in the new snow.
