Quick report
- Cracking
- specific
- Collapsing
- specific
In sheltered and forested locations there was little slab development noted. Soft slabs were failing within the new snow between 15 and 25 cm down from the top. Ridge line features exposed to wind had a more pronounced stiffness, with a 4F to 1 F hard surface slab that was 10cm on the ridge top but as deep as 20cm lower down in the deposition area. Cracking was localized on the top of the ridge, though at the entrance to the lowest angle run into the N facing bowl a large collapse with shooting cracks was triggered, running approx 30m in both directions. Crack ran 10cm deep and failed within the new snow.
