little bit of snow we got earlier in the week was looking more tempting every day... skied up the canoe road basically from valley bottom in search of any skiable snow. snowpack is low and offers little coverage of rocks and vegetation below 1900m. was able to get some turn in between there and 2200m akiing boot top powder on top of a crust. above that wind effect was significant leaving the area scoured almost completely to ground.
overall snow depth was extremely variable at all elevations likely from wind transport and the recent melt cycle, watch out for sharks in the snow, we found a couple!
even the recent new snow was starting to build small pockets of wind slab from moderate southerly winds that produced cracks when skied over in low angle terrain. still small but lota of visible wind transport occurring
ski out turned into mostly walking after accidently shaving off a few more grams from the touring skis
