St Mary

AMcLeod, Wednesday 23rd October, 2024 9:33PM

St Mary - Thursday and Friday. Thursday - very warm. Moist snow well into upper treeline. Intermittently strong alpine winds transporting the last of the remaining dry snow. Friday - alpine temps stayed below zero. Calm. Bluebird. The picture is of the largest slide we saw over two days and which looked like it could have happened Thursday during the warmth and the wind. Large SE facing feature. You might be able to see the shallow fracture line about 50m below the ridge likely on the late January interface. The older debris pile in the foreground indicates this path slid bigger earlier this season. This does not appear to be the case with some other large slide paths in the area which might indicated there is still substantial overhead hazard lurking.
