-16 degrees at log cabin parking lot at 11am iwth a valley fog
Mild temperature fog cleared above 1000m
Headed west to 1250m, at which point we decided to go for the gullies rather than keep climbing the NW face/dog leg.
There was no evidence of instability at that point. Some wind loading, mainly from the west. The concerns in the Alpine were thin trigger points and depth hoar. Informal pole probing indicated some layers, but opted to head to the trees/gullies as Alpine snow wasn't tempting, so didn't do more detailed snowpack check.
Notable cross loading around 1200m on some of the gullies. Traversed one at a time.
Skied 2nd, 3rd, notabke 4th gullies or trees ridges between them. Some nice snow. Further west the overhead hazard increases, very little snow in the start Zone.
3 big whumpfs while skinning back up in the trees.
Around 1pm fog got pushed north and got a light breeze around treeline.
Small slide (side 1), with debris around 1350m on NW aspect. Didn't run far (30m). Quite recent, (48 hours?). Debris of much larger slide in gully 4, perhaps from last weekend.
Snow and decreasing visibility starting around 3 30.
-12 at parking lot around 4.
