Santa came early

Incredible skiing on Tent Ridge, no signs of instability noted. We dug a pit on the East facing slope looking towards tent ridge. The slope was approximately 35 degrees with gladed trees (see photo). 200cm base with a failure at 2 shoulder taps on column test. This propagated at 8 shoulder taps on extended column test. That said we remained cautious with the considerable avy danger and avoided avy pathes throughout the day. Merry Christmas and stay safe out there!

Incredible day of skiing on the East face towards tent ridge. We dug a pit at 2300 M - 35 degree slope. Failure on column test at 3 shoulder taps. Failure on extended column at 8 shoulder taps. Took a few jumps on our skiis to make the layer above slide when we were filling the pit back in. Riding quality was excellent and I looked like I had santas beard by the end of the lap. That said we avoided avalanche pathes and open slopes when skiing as avalanche ratings were considerable! Merry Christmas and stay safe out there!!
