snowpack

Coordinates

Quick Observation

Some periods of clearing skies in the morning but for the most part a snowy and quite cold day up there. Moderate winds and pretty socked in when we poked up around 1800m.

Snowpack

Down 60cm produced hard, sudden planar results in a compression test. Above that we had numerous easy to moderate failures (down around 10, 20, and 30) - this reactivity was also observed in the sluffing on small steep or convex features. The upper 60cm of snow was very low density (lovely turns!! Yahoo!) and remained so throughout the day where we were skiing. Higher up, around 1700-1800m, it was more wind affected and more slabby.
