Skied in the sun into amazing Qua drainage yesterday. Rapid warming on anything southish facing that froze up in the latter part of the day. The sun was pretty warm. Then we skied a north facing run on the other side of the valley. Wind effect on anything remotely facing west and exposed. Significant whumpfing and shooting cracks as we approached 200m of ridgetop (surface hoar observed about 40cm down). Snowpack was an average of about 260cm around 2000m. On another note, we observed the best ski track of the year as a party, power traversed right across the "H8" feature/run from ridgetop (with no turns). Spicy decision making!!
