Incident

We learned a lesson about how easy it is to cover ground and loose awareness when having fun. Our group generally snow bikes in the trees and makes conservative choices. We had talked about wind loaded and sun affected slopes and even identified this slope from a distance as one we should avoid. However a few moments not paying enough attention and a snow biker came out of the trees directly onto this slope. There was immediately shooting cracks and the slope released about 40cm deep 40m wide and 20m long. The amount of snow was not enough to have buried a person and the snowbiker was able to stay at the top of the slide and not get washed down but this certainly could have turned out differently. We learned a big lesson on how quickly we can end up in a bad spot with a few minutes of having fun and not being aware.
