Spent the day skiing near the Shannon Creek headwaters. Moderate SW winds near ridge top with moderate snow transport. We suspected storm slabs in lee terrain at TL and wide spread in the alpine. Skied W and SW terrain at TL and BTL. Ski cutting produced no results. Several parties we bumped into reported a reactive storm slab in the alpine.
Snow conditions were: Wet, Deep powder, Wind affected. Weather conditions were: Windy, Foggy. We rode: Steep slopes, Open trees. We avoided: Alpine slopes, Convex slopes. Riding quality was good.
Avalache Conditions: Rapid temperature rise to near zero degrees or wet surface snow. 30cm + of new snow, or significant drifitng, or rain in the last 48 hours.
