Today's primary avalanche problems were wind slab and persistent slab. Wind slabs were found to be stubborn to unreactive in this zone today. Persistent slab avalanche activity was observed with two recent natural avalanches. Instability tests prove somewhat ineffective at measuring deeper, stubborn persistent weak layers.

Overcast skies with good visibility in the AM. Solar radiation was very limited. Temperatures were seasonal. PM winds began to intensify. Ridgetop winds were blowing SW, while aloft was W.

Both avalanches occurred naturally sometime within the past 48 hours. Both were on north-facing slopes between 7800-8100'. Both failed on persistent weak layers around 3 feet deep.
