Soft snow starting at ~7.2K, no tangible rain affect. ~25cm HT at ~7.5K, poles hitting the ground (minimal layering, again, no perceived rain affects). West and SW aspect on the up. Snowpack height increased, but still seemed like only storm snow up to ~9K, then old snow / rain crust showed up at the bottom of the snowpack. Multiple significant collapses at this elevation, a couple that boomed (but didn’t shake any trees). Some localized cracking, just a few feet around where we stepped. Pit at ~9.2K on west aspect - ~4cm thick crust at 25cm, with old faceted snow below, and with 60cm of storm snow on top, which was more and more consolidated as it went towards the ground/crust. Forgot the saw and string, but giving the snowpack a few hits, was surprised to find it break on maybe a little rain layer 45cm down that I missed in just touching the wall of the snowpack. Out from ~9-1, sun making the snow heavier as we descended.
