Quick report

Time of Testing: 3:30-4:00pm Weather: 22 degrees F, Scattered Sky (SCT), No Precip, Calm Wind Our 6-person group dug a test pit on the NE aspect below Galena Benchmark to identify the primary hazard in the area of recent snowfall over a persistent slab. We identified the clear line between the new and old snow slab at a depth of about 65cm below the current surface. To determine the stability of the new slab to point of fracture over the persistent slab, we performed a Compression and Extended Column Test with the following findings. As of result to the Compression Test we identified a CTM-14 layer rating (10 taps with finger tips + 4 taps from elbow length). The Extended Column Test resulted in a slab strength of ECTP #21 (10 taps with fingers + 10 taps at elbow length + 1 tap full-arm's length.
