Quick report
Ascending Titus ridge from the top of Galena Pass with the objective of Saviers, we noticed 3-5” of new snow with good stability. It seemed to come in warm and bond well with old snow surface. At the top of Titus Lake Peak, we took note of deeper accumulations (10” +) and more significant wind slab consolidation. We decided to wait 10 minutes to see if visibility would improve on our route to the south. As the clouds lifted off of Titus Peak, this monster on the north face finally revealed itself. We estimated the upper crown to be 24”-30” in depth and 50’-60’ in width, comprised entirely of wind drifted new snow. The initial slide appears to have triggered a lower, secondary pocket near a cliff band. Debris ran well into the basin, about 500 vertical ft.
