Snowpack
We made observations on Waterhouse Peak on Luther Pass today. This area has limited snow compared to other areas and similar elevations in the forecast region. From 7800-9000' on East aspects, spotty patches of snow existed in open areas. Above 9000' on East aspects there was more consistent snow coverage of around 6'' of mostly wet faceted snow present. Moving over to a North aspect at 9000' the snowpack was up to 12'' deep where we dug our snowpit. Similar to other locations, moist faceted snow made up the upper snowpack sitting on top of a firm basal ice layer. The deepest snow in this area existed in open locations in below treeline terrain with little to no snow around trees or below dense tree canopy which was mostly exposed dirt or rock.
