While skiing down the N ridge on Union Peak to Jove, the snow collapsed in some sections off the steep edge of the ridge with some propagation. The layers seemed Q1, so the weak layer was very defined. We experienced some heavy cracking while skinning up a wind loaded slope above 5800' on the ridge to Jove. We didn't see this anywhere else. The snow was very stable while skiing down the south face of Jove. The sun had created a crust that got worse as we went down. Snow was good from 6000' to 5600' but got heavily crusted below. The snow was still fluffy in the trees once we got off the open face.
