Quick report

Cracking
isolated

Townsend has large cornices on Northern and Eastern aspects. Ground was stripped to a patchwork above 6000 feet on Western and Southern aspects. Wind was steady from South through West at 10 mph with higher gusts. Isolated cracking in deposit zones behind rock features. Snow coverage started around 3200' but was melting fast below 3600' today (rain/sun). Floatation never needed. Isolated cracking in the flats didn't give me reassurance so we kept everything less than 30 as planned. Some new snow during the day but hard to know how much. We did not take the summer route in order to avoid more avy prone slopes. Upper TH goes with 4x4

Avalanche

A recent (probably Thursday) D1.5-2 avalanches on a steep chute on the north face of Hawk Peak.
