Quick report
Pleasant day out on a solo tour; stuck to lower consequence terrain and trees for contrast. Heavy but soft and enjoyable snow. Cornices visible on the ridgelines, e.g., above Joe's. When breaking trail (above ~5600'), discernible layers underfoot skinning, borne out by a hand shear test on the up track — ~3" of uncohesive soft fresh snow on top, ~2" of more cohesive snow next (could pick the layer up), ~8" of uncohesive soft snow below that. Layers were not discernible on the descent. No recent avalanches visible on Threeway or nearby.
