Quick report
Travels were from 6k to 8k. Around 7500’, the snowpack on solar aspects is around 1.5’ deep and 2.5’ deep on shady aspects. I dug pits on SE and NW aspects around 7500’. Compression tests results did not show any major signs of instability. I’m most worried about what happens to the existing snow before the next storm. Due to the strong temperature gradients from cool clear nights and a shallow snowpack, we have a possibility that the snowpack is faceting from the bottom from the top. I found the snowpack to have lost some moisture since last week and is trending towards faceting from the bottom, from the top. In upper elevation terrain you have the possibility of triggering a wind slab. I found great soft snow on all aspects in more wind protected areas.
