I found several potential avalanche problems to manage today. Outside of the most wind affected areas, much of the new/recent snow is low density and easily produces dry loose sluffing in steep terrain. The 2-4 inches of new snow that fell today came in with mostly light winds and did not add much to the wind slab problem other than some small drifts right along the highest ridges. Older wind slabs are still lingering below, but are harder to identify, and their sensitivity seems to be decreasing. There is significant uncertainty about the potential for persistent slab avalanches. I found some facets around a crust buried 2 feet deep today, but they did not produce any significant results in extended column tests. A member of the public reported seeing a relatively large avalanche 2 days ago on an upper elevation northeast aspect near Three Tiers, but it is unclear what the avalanche failed on. 

I dug a snowpit on an east aspect at 7400 ft. The total snow depth was 51" (130 cm). There was 22" of total recent snowfall resting on several thick crusts. The top crust had some small facets above and below it, but they were not particularly weak. Extended column tests did not produce any results.
