Avalanche Information

Observed two skier remote avalanches from a group of two skiing on Dolomite Ridge. The larger one appeared to be about 20 m from their ski tracks. It was a size 2, about 50 m wide, that stepped down to the basal crust/facet layer near the ground. The avalanche took out a slope with ski tracks from last week and the debris covered the edge of a common high exit traverse from the Dolomite Loop. The smaller side was about 5-10 m from the ski tracks and 20 m wide. It failed on a layer about 50-60 cm down. The avalanche took out an uptrack that had been used in the past week. A separate party on Dolomite Ridge reported some large "whumpfs" while on the ridge later in the day. Three size 2 natural slab avalanches were also observed in the area on steep N and S aspects occurring in the previous 48 hrs.
